My 3rd grader sometimes gets to assist the kindergarten class.
“Mom, today, I helped them after the potty to make sure they use soap and water, and not the ‘hanasizer’… and…”
“Honey, I’ve told you before… it’s hand sanitizer.”
completely exasperated for me interrupting her story:
“I know, mom… it’s easier to just say ‘hanasizer.'”
I agree, and others must too, because a version of the word already exists in the Urban Dictionary… under “hanatizer” – someone that can’t get the words “hand sanitizer” out fast enough so they have to shorten it to “Hanatizer”
Except we like it with an S.
Try it, rolls off the tongue so much easier … “Hanasizer.” Yup, that’s an acceptable vocabulary word in our house.
Oh yeah, I totes call it hanisizer! Way simpler!

Right? I kept correcting her and today I realized.. why? It flows so much easier! And when you say it, people quickly know what you’re talking about…so communication is there. Good to go.

I think your daughter is a Madison Avenue pitchman disguised as a 3rd grader! She sounds like she’ll be pitching your products here a second now. I knew this blog was too good to be true. You hooked us all with this straight talk and BAM! Now I want a bottle of this magic elixir, what’ya charging… $19.95? Oh god I’m hooked!

I swear, I think she COULD have her own site and sell things. She would be far more successful than I ever will be… wait, I’m not selling anything.

LOL. Yep, never underestimate the power of a young mind once exposed to marketing. Hey, I saw “Big” with Tom Hanks, so you can’t fool me. Today Hanasizer, tomorrow Toy’s R Us!

It is easier to say and probably works well for anyone who isn’t named Hannah. Everybody has their words. For instance I’ve always called camper vans vampers. So much easier to say.

Vampers… I like, except I think of Vampires. And then I think that move Lost Boys where Cory Feldman states: “If you vamp out on us in any way, we won’t hesitate to STAKE you.” or something like that. 🙂
